the LIFE
Alonzo Saclag worked to revive the dying tradition of playing the gangsa, a type of Kalinga gong. He persuaded the provincial government for two years to support the conversion of the abandoned Capitol Building into a museum. A branch of the National Museum was created in Lubuagan with the help of the province government and other investors.
Saclag also advocated for the advancement of Kalinga culture in his community's schools, holding discussions with administrators. He was a driving force behind the habit of pupils wearing traditional Kalinga dress to key school events and the teaching of Kalinga folk melodies in schools. He also pushed for traditional Kalinga music to be broadcast alongside contemporary music on their local radio station. He also established the Kalinga Budong Dancing Troupe to promote Kalinga dance to a wider audience.
